Why Ride Yellow?

So why does it make better sense to ride yellow these days? Here are a few reasons why:
-
Exploding prices for ride-sharing
According to Business Insider, the average ride price for the two main ride-sharing companies jumped to $27 between January and June 2021, while the average ride price for a yellow cab dropped to $13.61 during the same period.
That kinda says it all, but there’s more.
-
Corporate Ethics
NYC’s taxi industry is proud of the fact that our drivers are independent. Our drivers are free to make their own hours, a benefit they’ve enjoyed not just for the past 4 years, but for the past 40. We encourage private ownership, which provides our drivers with greater flexibility and control over their own schedules, empowering them to earn money on their own terms. Unlike ride-sharing, yellow cabs have become life-long assets for their independent drivers, funding countless college educations, weddings, first homes and retirement nest eggs.
-
Reliability
Yellow cabs are inspected 3x per year by the City and annually by the State. Add to that the fact that yellow cab drivers are generally far more knowledgeable about the city and how to navigate it, as well as the convenient option of street hailing, and the choice is an easy one. Because no matter where you ‘hail” from, when you’re in New York, you gotta ride yellow. Or just fuhgeddaboudit.
